Air Quality Award Standards Your organization must complete all eight Standards listed below to achieve the Air Quality Award. This is only a summary of the Standards. For more details of the specific activities, please download the Standards Achievement Report (Word document). Air Quality Standard #1: Sign the Air Quality Agreement, committing your organization to the Air Quality Award process. Aqcuire a commitment from an owner or manager in the form of a signed Air Quality Agreement.
Air Quality Standard #2: Implement internal initiatives that emphasize Green Star activities. Implement internal Outreach/Education activities as well as Training/Incentive activities. Air Quality Standard #3: Encourage the use of alternative transportation. Implement activities that provide information or assist employees in using alternative means of transportation, such as mass transit, walking, biking, skiing, carpooling, and others. Air Quality Standard #4: Reduce vehicular pollution. For those people who do drive, there are numerous ways to make the drive to and from work cleaner and more comfortable. Provide information to employees about activities such as plugging in, proper vehicle maintenance, and less polluting equipment. Air Quality Standard #5: Reduce pollution at the workplace. Stationary sources contribute to outdoor air pollution, such as carbon monoxide and particulate matter. Implement activities around the workplace that reduce air emissions to our outdoor environment. Air Quality Standard #6: Reach out to the community about your Air Quality efforts. Consider opportunities to educate the public or your customers about your activities; participate in other Air Quality activities, such as a Walking School Bus or an engine block heater timer giveaway; recruit a new Green Star member, or sponsor a Green Star program. Air Quality Standard #7: Provide measures for your success. Identify and document two initiatives underway at your facility. Baseline data and measures of the changes are important parts of Green Star's program. Air Quality Standard #8: Identify future goals to ensure program momentum. Continuing your Air Quality program ensures that continual improvements are made. Your future goals will be revisited every two years on your Green Star Recertification Form.
