Take the 3-2-1 Pledge to reduce carbon emmissions.

A campaign of Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) and the Alaska Association of Student Governments (AASG)

3-2-1 Efficiency! AYEA, a program of the National Wildlife Federation, has teamed with the Alaska Association of Student Governments to combat global warming by inspiring individuals to take personal actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project asks each individual to take three distinct actions at home that will help offset thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. AYEA's goal is to get 6,000 Alaskans (any age!) to take the pledge and implement change. To sign the pledge or to get your business, organization, or school/class involved, go to www.ayea.org.

  • 3 -- Unplug three electronic appliances (e.g., stereo, TV) when not in use (reduces CO2 emissions by 3,000 lbs/year)
  • 2 -- Bring two reusable plastic or canvas bags when you go shopping (reduces CO2 emissions by 50 lbs/year)
  • 1 -- Repace regularly used incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent lamp (reduces emissios by 100 lbs/year)one
